Industry - Rules No 937/2000 respecting Limitation of Professional Rights of Dental Technicians

When Dental Technicians have acquired rights to practise on their own responsibility in accordance with Act No. 109/2000 respecting Professional Rights of Dental Technicians and Regulations based on the Act the rights are limited as it pertains to the fabrication of partial dentures under the present Rules.

In case a client of a Dental Technician holding rights in accordance with Art. 1 has one or more teeth in oral cavity and a Dental Technician consider, upon completion of inspection and depending on circumstances his taking of impressions, that a partial denture need be made for the party concerned the Dental Technician shall, prior to the commencement of actual making of the partial denture, direct the client to a Dentist for inspection of teeth, oral cavity and jaws and the requisite preprocessing in connection therewith.
The co-operation of a Dental Technician and a Dentist concerning the fabrication of partial dentures in accordance with para. 1 shall be finalized in writing prior to the actual fabrication being commenced by the Dental Technician and there shall be prepared a schedule of fabrication which will be negotiated by the Dental Technician and the Dentist.
The provision of para. 1 notwithstanding a Dental Technician can reproduce partial dentures for clients in accordance with para. 1 without referring them to a Dentist if a Dentist has inspected the client during the immediate past twelve months and the reproduction is undertaken in conformity with a pre-arranged fabrication schedule.

A Dental Technician holding rights in accordance with Art. 1 may only in accordance with instructions and subject to supervision by a Dentist undertake the installation and alteration of such temporary partial dentures and partial dentures fixed to dental implants in jaws or to units which are included in artificial teeth crowns or in inlay in normal teeth.

The present rules, being laid down under authority contained in Art. 3 of Act No. 109/2000 respecting Professional Rights of Dental Technicians, enter into force forthwith.
