Industry - Act No. 109/2000 respecting Professional Rights of Dental Technicians -

A C T

No. 109 of 25 May 2000

respecting Professional Rights of Dental Technicians



Art. 1

Master Dental Technicians are permitted on their own responsibility to fabricate full dentures, including the taking of the impressions and fitting, provided that there be no pathological changes or congenital defects in the client's mouth or jaw according to medical certificate, as well as to repair full and partial dentures. Master Dental Technicians shall co-operate with a Dentist in the production of partial dentures on their own responsibility.
The provisions of para. 1 do not prejudice the right of Dental Technicians to discharge other work in their authorized branch of industry. Neither do these prejudice the right of Dentists, or those working under the guidance and on the responsibility of Dentists, to work on the taking of impressions and fittings of dentures, nor their acquired rights according to the provisions of older Acts.

Art. 2

Violations of the provisions of the present Act committed deliberately or through gross negligence are subject to fines, unless a heavier penalty apply under other Acts.
Lawsuits on account of violations of the present Act shall be proceeded with as Criminal Cases.

Art. 3

The Minister of Industry shall by means of Regulations lay down further provisions relating to the implementation of the present Act. Therein shall be contained stipulations concerning conditions under which Dental Technicians shall attend a course in order to be able to acquire professional rights in accordance with the present Act. After having consulted the Minister of Health and Social Security the Minister shall lay down rules to the effect that part of the work of Dental Technicians under para. 1, Art. 1, shall be discharged in co-operation with a Dentist, as well as rules on conditions of an operational licence, and the Director General of Public Health shall undertake supervision of these factors.

Art. 4

The present Act enters into force forthwith.

Art. 5

Upon entry into force of the present Act a new sentence, the 3rd sentence, will be added to para. 1, Art. 3, of the Act respecting Health Service No. 97/1990, reading as follows:- "He also undertakes supervision of that part of the work of independently practising Master Dental Technicians which shall be discharged in co-operation with a Dentist".
